Dating is an exciting experience especially when you’ve met the perfect person to journey with. The perfect vacation time, special restaurants, quiet walks and conversations about the future creates a warm feeling! Conversations about the future. Conversations about the future. Conversations about the future.
“Let’s Set the Date!”

The STEM and Entrepreneurship relationship has established chemistry, symmetry and connection. The proof is in the trajectory of STEM related careers with a projected growth rate of 10.8% through 2026, and 93 of 100 STEM occupations earning wages above the national average according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. These stats establishes promise in the field and give the red light for a future STEMer to “make plans.”
In alignment, Entrepreneurship and Small business ownership has a promising future; in 2021, 166,000 new small businesses were established producing 3 million jobs (U.S. Small Business Administration [SBA], 2022). This number added to the 33.2 million total U.S small businesses and 6.7 million employees! It’s safe to say STEM and Entrepreneurship should make plans for next steps; The engagement!
Connecting the two disciplines in K-12 and post secondary STEM spaces requires a community of educators, administrators and STEM enthusiasts to discern the future opportunity for young learners.
So how do we advance STEM Entrepreneurship?
Internal and external partners are key to advancing STEM Entrepreneurship curriculum and assembling these key players, establishes strong strategic alliances to create legacy building opportunities for young learners.
What does this mean?
Internal partners akin to educators, principals, superintendents, academic deans, provosts and college presidents are challenged to create and support trending STEM curriculum that speaks to the future state of STEM and Entrepreneurial opportunities in the marketplace. Out of the box thinking. Bold decision making. A plan for the next!
External partners of this movement are curriculum policy makers, board and advisory members, STEM professionals and higher institution accrediting bodies.
Each partnering entity is charged with funding curriculum training and delivery for nascent faculty and teachers aimed at successfully delivering an element of Entrepreneurship in all STEM curriculum. Similar to next steps after an engagement is the wedding rehearsal!
The wedding rehearsal for STEM and Entrepreneurship is under the leadership of K-12 and higher institutions who are responsible for developing a pilot group of classrooms and programs to assess the performances of curriculum delivery and make necessary adjustments in advance of the big day!
Integrating Entrepreneurship into STEM curriculum prepares young learners for a future promised to have small business ownership opportunities in Science, Engineering and Technological industries.
Lets further the discussion
The marriage between STEM and Entrepreneurship is inevitable. Do you see the union beginning to happen in the schools and community around you? How do you suggest we continue to further this union?
